These terms describe the basis on which Screen Level is made available. Reading the site means accepting them. They are deliberately brief, because the site does very little: it publishes articles, and you read them.

What this site is

Screen Level publishes general reference material about display brightness on Windows computers. It is an independent editorial project. It hosts no software and distributes no files. No account or registration is required, and none is offered.

Information, not professional advice

Articles are written carefully and reviewed before publication, but they describe general behaviour across a very wide range of hardware and software configurations. Your machine may differ. Nothing here is professional advice of any kind — technical, medical or otherwise — and it should not be treated as a substitute for the documentation supplied with your equipment or for advice from a qualified professional.

In particular, passages touching on eye comfort, fatigue and sleep describe general findings and are not medical guidance. Persistent visual symptoms are a matter for an optometrist or doctor.

Your own responsibility

Changing system settings, drivers or firmware carries risk. You act on your own judgement. Before making a change you do not fully understand, note the previous state so you can return to it, and where a change is significant, make sure your data is backed up. We cannot accept responsibility for the outcome of changes made to your own equipment.

Accuracy and availability

We aim to keep the site correct and current, and we revise articles when software changes underneath them. Even so, we make no guarantee that every statement is accurate, complete or applicable to your situation at the moment you read it. The site is provided as it is, and we do not promise uninterrupted availability.

Content and reuse

The articles, wording and design of this site belong to Screen Level. You are welcome to quote a short passage for commentary, teaching, review or discussion, provided the source is credited and a link is given where the medium allows. Republishing whole articles, or reproducing substantial parts of the site, requires written permission — ask, and the answer is often yes.
